God Promises

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV)

“My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.” (Psalm 89:34 NKJV)

Some sources suggest that there are 3573 promises in the Bible, others say there are actually 5467 promises, but most recognize that there are so many, it’s impossible to count. As children of God, many of these promises belong to us. I say many and not all because some promises were meant for specific people in the Bible. For instance, God promised Abraham that his children will be as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore (Genesis 22:17). Even though this promise applies to Abraham, if God can promise particular things to him and so many others in the Bible, he will do the same for you, so listen out for His voice.

There are certain things that just come with being a child of the King of Kings, the most high God, creator of the universe and all of life’s mysteries. When you confess that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, immediately, like a snap of the finger, the promises that God makes to believers are made available to come alive in your life if you believe.

But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6 NLT)

“…all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23 NKJV)

These promises of God, belong to you just like your fingers, your hair, Nemo’s orange skin and Dory’s blue skin. God’s promises can not be taken away from you. With all these promises in the Bible, there is a promise that applies to your situation, “waiting to be claimed by faith” (Media Ministry). No matter what it feels like, no matter what it sounds like right now, God’s promises will come to fruition in your life whether you need confirmation, a breakthrough, advice or peace. Below you will find a short list of promises. But, don’t stop seeking, speaking and praying God’s promises after you’ve read the last one on this page. The Bible, Google, and a plethora of books are made widely available to us to use these resources to discover more promises each and every day.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Isaiah 54:17

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’says the Lord.” Romans 12:19

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“…Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

If you have never accepted the Jesus Christ as your personal savior, use this prayer as a guide to accepting Him into your life.

God, I want to be right with you and I understand that I have sinned against you. The Bible says in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness. So I ask for your forgiveness and that you would help me turn from my sinful ways. The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that If I declare with my mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved. Right now I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that you are my Lord and Savior and that you raised Jesus from the dead. Thank you for saving me and now filling me with your Holy Spirit. In your son Jesus name, I pray and thank you, Amen.
