Live A Worthy Life
“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:1-2 NIV)
Who is your favorite entertainer? Favorite athlete? Favorite author? Favorite pastor? Favorite Biblical character? Imagine a world without your favorites. Imagine if they never stepped out on faith, and instead gave a resounding no to their purpose. Imagine if fear gripped them so tightly, their God-given ideas, strength and gifts were suppressed forever.
But, these game-changers gave a continuous yes to God’s predestined call, and we must do the same. No matter how bad our voices shake, no matter how much we’d rather stay behind the scenes, no matter how much we value comfort, we have to walk worthy of our calling in the midst of trial and triumph.
God is not asking us to use our own power, wisdom or understanding to live out our destinies. Instead, He asks us to depend on His understanding, and He will see us through (Proverbs 3:5-6). We already have the victory over every area of our lives. So, if we step out on faith, one decision at a time, fear will begin to disintegrate, complacency will pass, and doubt will bow down. As we keep our lives grounded in the things of God, we will continuously encounter Him in abundant, and humanly incomprehensible ways.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV)
