Obedience Produces Fruit
I started thenikaocollection.com out of obedience. But, the more I write, the more I realize this obedience continues to feed my own spirit. Periodically during my quiet time, God will lead me to re-read a recent post or one from years ago. As I read these messages, new revelation flows and my spirit is refreshed. That’s the thing about God’s word, it never returns void. Obedience planted today will spring up fruit fit to feed you and those around you in the future.
“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
‘As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.’” (Isaiah 55:8-11 NIV)
Recently, I found myself habitually repeating the same things I always pray without any fresh words. Out of frustration, I would often cut my prayers short, crawl into bed and read the Bible or write a journal – attempting to hear from God another way. Again, God led me to a post from a few years ago on prayer. Re-reading this post excited my prayer life with original ways to pray. I urge you to read old notes, read old journal entries and listen to old sermons. What you wrote down years ago out of obedience, what you heard years ago, still has hidden gems to uncover today. What God spoke in the previously, still stands today.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NIV)
