The Necessity of Change

Change can be scary. There is fear of the unknown, fear of the known coming to an end, fear of failure and fear of being uncomfortable. These fears can scare us into staying at a job we know we’ve outgrown, avoid pursuing a business venture, and setting our goals too low.

But, change propels us forward. It brings new experiences and new wisdom to our lives. When we leave our comfort zones and leap into the unknown with God’s voice as our leader and comforter, we can rest assured He’s always with us (Psalm 139).

So, for the rest of the year let’s welcome change together. Even with sweaty palms, a shaky voice and a queasy stomach let’s embrace change. Let’s not avoid it, hide from it or try to sneak past it. Let’s fully immerse ourselves in the changes we will inevitably experience. And besides, the only constant is God and change.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NIV)

Let’s lean on our constant God to see us through change like He’s done before, like He’s done our whole life, like He’s done over the entire course of time.
