Isn’t it amazing that our bodies need rest to function properly? And not just one, two or even three hours of rest, but eight hours of sleep per day, seven days a week.
We can not neglect rest. God even rested, and I believe that is our cue to do the same.
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”Genesis 2:2-3 NIV
Overworking, over thinking, over analyzing, over committing is not going to get us any closer to the life we want to live. Instead, we’ll be burnt out, irritable and tired.
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’”Psalm 46:10 NIV
If you feel like your going, going, going and haven’t had time to rest, I want to encourage you to get some rest. Your goals will still be there, and your to-do list isn’t going anywhere. Take some time to sleep, some time to relax, some time to meditate.
