Victory Never Stops
Recently, as I looked through my notes to prepare for the weekly upload on this blog, I ran across this #oldiebutgoodie post I never shared…
The NFL tops the list for my favorite games to watch. This year, while watching the Super Bowl LI, I had no stock in either the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons, but I noticed my cheers and claps were geared towards the Falcons, purely based on their underdog status. I wanted them to win their first Super Bowl title because my human mind selfishly thought the Patriots won their fair share of Super Bowls. It was time to give someone else a ring.
However, the more I rooted against New England, the more I realized God doesn’t think like this, at all. Our victories in life do not depend on how many triumphs we’ve won before, but how our faith measures up in the face of any trial.
“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (Romans 8:31-37 NLT)
If we are children of God, we were already dealt a winning hand, and we can expect to walk in victory through every trial and tribulation. No matter how many victories we’ve won or losses we’ve had to deal with, our faith in the completed work done on the cross propels us to win regardless of what stands in the way. God doesn’t say, okay, you’ve had too many promotions, it’s time for you to give someone else a shot. He doesn’t say, okay you’ve had too many good days, time to throw this bad one in there. No! God has given everyone what they need when they need it, whether trial or triumph. If it’s for you, by faith take it and it will be yours!
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39 NKJV)
Continue to push higher. Continue to push for more greatness. There’s no cap to the number of victories we have in Jesus.
