Success is For You

I’m a firm believer that success is not reserved for the chosen few, the wealthy or the brilliant. As we turn our hearts toward heaven and give God our obedience – success, joy and fulfilment is a sure path for all of us.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24 NIV)

Recently, I watched Kevin Hart’s Netflix documentary. All throughout the episodes, he kept stepping into opportunity after opportunity with comedy as his basis (comedy tours, movies, an entertainment company, podcasts, etc.).  It appeared as if taking that first step to wholeheartedly walk in his purpose all those years ago, continues to carry him toward success in increasingly greater ways.

“‘Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.’” (Luke 16:10 NIV)

If we’re obedient and faithful with our current situations, God will give us circumstances in which to continuously excel. Kevin Hart did not go from his first standup comedy act one day, to a world tour the next. He consistently practiced and capitalized on opportunities. Likewise, as we consistently practice our God-given talents and capitalize on God-given opportunities, we too will live up to our fullest potential and reach our most complex goals.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV)
