Chains of Monotony

If you’re like me, most days can seem like more of the same – working, eating, sleeping,  scrolling through social media, working out (on a good day). But today, I want to encourage you to break out of the same monotonous routine. Do something different today! Pray for guidance, and then work towards your short term goals; work towards your long term goals; research what it would take to start the business; make that call you’ve been dreading; practice your gift; read the Bible a little more; worship a little more; catch up with an old friend; call an elderly family member; schedule a time to volunteer with a local charity – or however God is leading you.

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.'” (James 2:14-18 NIV)

We can hope and dream about the life we want. But, if we never put the work in, it won’t come to pass. So today, let’s check something off our to-do list. Today, let’s step out on faith and break out of the chains of monotony.
