Stand Firm

One day, as I was scrolling through my social media feed, I saw an intriguing video featuring two police officers and some protestors.

Officer A was in the midst of scolding protestors, and suddenly shoved over one protestor already kneeling on the ground. Officer B sprinted into action by pushing Officer A away from the protestors. As Officer B reprimanded Officer A’s actions, Officer A was literally running away from Officer B in a frightened manner. Although viewers couldn’t hear what the officers or protestors were saying, it was obvious that Officer B was not going to stand by and let Officer A do anything they deemed necessary.

Likewise, in this world we need to be more like Officer B. We must not let the evil of this world bully us, our families, or our neighbors. We must stand firm in the face of evil.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”(Ephesians 6:10-17 NIV)

We don’t have to accept crippling fear as fact. Instead, we can stand firm with bravery because God is always with us. We don’t have to accept the lies that try to destroy us. Instead, we can stand firm in the truth of God’s promises. With faith leading us, we can courageously voice our opinions, pray boldly, and take action against evil.
