God Pursues Our Hearts

God chases after our hearts.

“‘What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.'” (Matthew 18:12-14 NIV)

I often think about how I came to believe in Jesus, and how thankful I am that He would give me the grace to believe.

I grew up in the church, but I never had a personal relationship with God until I was in college. One day on campus, a young lady stopped me on the bus and told me about Impact, a campus ministry. I attended the next meeting and the next meeting. Then, I went to the Impact National Conference and many conferences after that, and my life changed with each message I heard, with each scripture I read and with each worship song I praised to.

God wants us to believe in Him and in Jesus. He wants a relationship with us. There is no heaven without it. There is no fruitful life on earth without it. Because of this relationship, we can have abundant of life, here and in heaven.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10 NIV)

What events, situations, conversations has God placed in your life that were evident He was pursuing your heart? I want to encourage you to think about this today, and if you have never accepted Jesus as your lord and savior, I want to encourage you today to pray this prayer.

Jesus, I understand that I’m a sinner in need of a savior. You took care of my sin all those years ago on the cross and now there is no shame or guilt I have to get rid of before I come to you. I invite You to come into my life, and I understand that it is only through You that I have eternal life. Give me the grace to repent, give me the grace to believe. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

If you prayed this prayer, just like a light switch has been turned on, Jesus has entered your life and now your life will never be the same. Keep praying, keep reading your Bible and remember Jesus is always with you.
