The Necessity of Criticism

I have a love-hate relationship with criticism. However, I’m learning that criticism, when done with love, creates the pressure necessary to be even more creative, more knowledgeable and more prepared. Critiques allow us to push past what we thought was good and be great. Perfection is a lie, and the sooner we listen to those around us (those with good intentions) we will continue toward progression not perfection.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17 NIV)

This is why community is so important. Those who know us will inevitably notice things we fail to realize about ourselves.

Let’s take heed to the wisdom and truth around us despite how hard it may be to hear. Let’s be present as we receive criticism — good, bad or indifferent.
