One of the beautiful, sweet and unique things we get to experience as Christians is God’s presence. Sometimes it just hits us out of nowhere like when we’re driving, working or just going through daily life. Other times we’re ushered into it through worship and prayer. Sometimes we see it in action through miracles, signs and wonders. But at all times, we can feel it on the inside of us through the Holy Spirit. 

However, what happens when we are in seasons or days of lack or even plenty when we no longer thirst for His presence? What happens when we haven’t felt his presence recently, and doubt begins to roll around in our heads? What happens when we find ourselves with no desire to read God’s word, pray or worship? 

When we feel like this, we must remember that our relationship with God is not based on feelings, but on knowing that God is who He says He is. Even in the deepest valleys and on the highest hills, read the Bible anyway, pray anyway, worship anyway. At some point, the decision we made for God to be the Lord of our lives and put Him first has to be paramount to any momentary feelings. 

“One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’

Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’” (Matthew 22:35-40 NIV)

No matter if this if the best day of your life, the worst day of your life, or somewhere in between, spend time in the word, pray and/or worship. There, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and God’s sweet presence awaits you.
