God is Not a “Just Because” God

In tough times, it may be easy to question why God would allow pain in our lives. But God is not a “just because” God.

Whether in plenty or in lack, in good times or in bad, in joyfulness or in sadness, it all happens for a reason. Nothing happens “just because.” There is a purpose for our lives and for our pain.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28 NIV

Now, that purpose may not be evident at first. But, in these moments, we must trust God’s word and know that even in the worst moments of our lives, it will still work out for our good. In the midst of a storm, it may be hard to see it working out, but it will.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Jeremiah 29:11
