Giving Our Burdens to God

I had a dream recently where I was traveling with a friend and decided I wanted to add more shoes to my already overflowing bag. As I tried to stuff the shoes in the bag, it just wasn’t working. The extra shoes added way more pounds to the bag, and wouldn’t allow the zipper to close. My friend who had an almost empty bag, said she could help me carry the shoes, and I thankfully started giving her shoes to put in her bag.

As I was thinking about this dream, it occurred to me that in the same way my friend wanted to carry my extra shoes, God wants to carry our burdens. He wants us to give Him our worries, our fears, our anxieties. We don’t have to pick and choose what burdens to give to God and which ones to keep and worry over, He can take them all.

‘Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest. Accept my teaching. Learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest.’

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-29‬ ‭ERV‬‬

We have to truly be willing to “let go and let God” and give Jesus the burdens we’re carrying. He will give us rest.

Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬
