Water Doesn’t Faze You

Dear God,

I know water doesn’t faze you

You walk on that

And storms don’t either

Because you calm those

But whenever overwhelming storms come,

and tears that will make an ocean jealous soon follow;

You and I, we go something like this…

My eyes are open

locked on yours

I take one step into the sea of my problems

Another step…

My feet get wet

Another step…

My feet don’t get any wetter

Another step…

I’m in the middle of the ocean

One boat

One You

I stare at Your eyes

Like my life depends on it

Another step…

My heart shakes

This can’t be happening, I think

I look down

This can’t be happening, I believe

I start to sink

I look up

My eyes can’t find yours

WHERE ARE YOU! I scream

My legs are wet

My stomach is wet

SAVE ME! I scream

You reach your hand out

You save me

Why did I doubt

Shaking

Crying

You comfort me

Even my doubt couldn’t keep you away

You pick me up

Wrap me in your arms

Carry me back to the boat

“My child, you don’t doubt the sun’s existence on a cloudy day so why do you doubt my existence when problems arise? I am like the sun. Even on cloudy days, my rays are strong enough to still give you hope.”

God, you anchor my soul, now I refuse to sink.

Matthew 14:28-33 Peter answered him, “Lord if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came towards Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
