Planting Your Roots

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

A tree’s purpose is to provide oxygen, shelter, and food. For a tree to be successful at its purpose, it is crucial that it attains water, sunlight and carbon dioxide. From there, it can produce for itself food needed to survive. However, without planting its roots in the ground and stretching its leaves to the sun, the tree will die.

Likewise, we must firmly plant our roots in God to victoriously live out our purpose. For our roots to grow deeper and produce a successful life, we need nutrients. Without nutrients that feed our spirits such as prayer , Bible reading, wisdom and worship we will fail at our purpose.

So, if we continue to root ourselves in God as our number one source, spending time with Him and following Jesus’ teachings, we will reap a harvest of success and eternal life.

Take a moment and ask God where you can spend more time with Him daily. Remember, anytime with God is time well spent.
